Discussion
on Funding Improvement
It
is our opinion that the County should invest funds from the sale of
the hospital site in downtown Fairfield into improving West Texas
Street. Following are
the key reasons they should focus on West Texas Street as a key
gateway to improve:
-
The
county is placing an unfair share of burden from its social programs
onto central Fairfield. This can result in neglect of
property, which can be an eyesore for the community.
The county needs to treat Fairfield equitably like the other
cities in the county. One of the ways in which the County
could assist the area and compensate for the unfair burden placed on
Fairfield with the county social programs is to help improve the
area.
-
With
the county investing into the West Texas Street area, local
businesses and homeowners will have more motivation to join the
effort.
-
The
former hospital property being sold is in central Fairfield, so a
portion of the funds should stay in Fairfield rather than being used
for programs in which we to date have had no or little say.
