Improvements on West Texas Street Needed
A portion of West Texas Street has been improving, but the entire street needs to be improved.   A new modern bus depot is now located by the ramp from West Texas Street.  Business owners have been improving their landscaping and building appearances.  Patronize those businesses that invest in making our Gateway more beautiful

Selling of County Hospital: The county wisely sold the old hospital site.  Funds for this will pay for a new homeless shelter to be located at a different place.  Fairfield receives an unfair share of the burden of helping the county's homeless and those incarcerated in its prisons and jails.  Solano County however is trying to force Fairfield residents to accept the next homeless shelter.  Why can't the shelter be located in Vallejo, Vacaville or Dixon?  The county continues to dump its social problems onto West Texas Street.

Cal Trans Parking Lot: This eye sore continues to be improperly placed on our main thoroughfare into Fairfield.  Cal Trans may have talked about relocating, but are they serious?  Must we look at their site each time we drive by?  The state should sell the land, and use the funds to buy a larger and better site on less valuable land.  Unless you get involved, it will remain there year after year.

Allan Witt Park - New Signs Needed: The park's outdated 70's style signage needs to be replaced.  The "Welcome To Fairfield" sign is tilted and needs to be replaced.  A single color of paint needs to be maintained when painting out graffiti so that there is some consistency.  There is some positive activity going on at Allan Witt Park.  A new skate park will be built soon, the Rotary-City of Fairfield Skate Park, which is greatly anticipated by the city's youth.   It will be one of the largest skate parks in Northern California.  The expected completion date is Spring 2002.  We'll keep you posted.

The area of West Texas Street that is in greatest need of improvement starts at Allan Witt Park and continues to Pennsylvania Street.
